MADRID, Oct 19 - Renowned Canadian singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen said Wednesday he had recorded his first new album since 2004 and would release it next year.

Cohen told journalists in the northern Spanish town of Oviedo, where he had travelled to collect Spain's top award for authors who do not write in Spanish, that "Old Ideas" consisted of ten previously unpublished tracks.

"I've played it for a few people, and they seem to like it," the 77-year-old said in his trademark gravelly voice.

The new album will come out on 31th January, 2012. Darkness will be the only song recorded from the 4 new songs we already know from the last tour (Feels So Good, Lullaby and Born In Chains might be on the next one, according to Leonard :))
Anjani left a comment on facebook about Crazy To Love You (from her album, Blue Alert) would be covered by Leonard on this new album.
We will see. I hope there will be a new tour as well, "God willing"*

*quote from the same press conference above :) He actually said "I never quite know whether there's going to be a tour or not."
